Noteworthy fee increases for 2026

Every 1 July Australian visa fees increase. Often the changes are not announced until the last minute, and sometimes there are surprises. Here are some of the changes for 1 July 2026.

Despite the subclass 485 temporary graduate visa increasing significantly in March 2026, it has still increased again on 1 July 2026. It is now $5,750.

The bridging visa B has been increased to $195, however this is only for certain Pacific Island country citizens. All other applicants will now be required to pay $575.

As always, partner visa fees continued to increase, and the base application is now $11,710. This is a significant 25% increase.

The skills in demand 482 temporary employer sponsored visa has also increased 25% and is now $4,015. The permanent employer sponsored 186 visa has also increased 25% and is now $6,140.

Happily for subclass 866 protection visa applicants, the fees have not increased and remain at $50.

The good news is that as of 1 July 2026 most visa fees are cheaper if you hold a passport from a Pacific Island nation - specifically Federated States of Micronesia; Fiji; Kiribati; Nauru; Palau; Papua New Guinea; Republic of the Marshall Islands; Samoa; Solomon Islands; Timor‑Leste; Tonga; Tuvalu; Vanuatu.
